A native of Rochester, Minnesota, Dr. Weisbrod grew up in the midst of the world-famous Mayo Clinic, where he was involved in numerous different research projects for the advancement of medicine. Dr. Weisbrod attended Concordia College where he excelled both on the varsity basketball team and in the classroom, graduating summa cum laude. He then went on to medical school at the University of Minnesota, where he was a delegate of the Student Government and Senate, and graduated with honors.
After completing an internship at the University of Colorado in Denver, he finished his 3-year ophthalmology residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, where he was elected chief resident during his final year. Dr. Weisbrod then went on to a prestigious subspecialty fellowship in diseases of the Retina at the #1 ranked eye hospital in the country, the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, located in Miami, FL. He trained with world renowned Retina specialists, with his expert focus being Macular Degeneration.
While Dr. Weisbrod’s emphasis is on treating Retinal disease, he is also involved with cataract surgery, glaucoma, and oculoplastics. He is certified and trained in “custom” wavefront LASIK as well, using the most advanced technology with the IntraLase Femtosecond and VISX Excimer laser systems.
In his free time, Dr. Weisbrod enjoys being outside as much as possible. He’s enthusiastic about skiing, biking, fishing, and spending time with his family and dog.
