Dr. Vivian Ekemezie earned her Doctorate of Optometry from the New England College of Optometry in Boston, Massachusetts. She completed her training and residency at various health care and veteran affairs medical centers around the United States with an emphasis on primary eye care, contact lens fit, pediatric and geriatric eye care, ocular diseases, traumatic brain injury, concussion, and low vision rehabilitation. She received honors in her low vision rotation at the Blind Rehabilitation and Veteran Affairs Medical Centers in West Haven, Connecticut, and Minneapolis, in conjunction with Illinois College of Optometry.
Dr. Ekemezie initially graduated from the prestigious University of Benin, Nigeria in 2000 with a Bachelor of Science in Optometry and a Doctor of Optometry degree (OD). After that, she practiced as an optometrist for a couple of years in Nigeria before moving to the United States. Her clinical interests include binocular vision, low vision rehabilitation, ocular diseases, dry eye treatment, contact lens fitting, pediatric and geriatric eye care.
As a passionate provider, Dr. Ekemezie provides exceptional care to every patient in her chair. She believes that eye health, vision comfort, and style are a fundamental right for every patient. Her compassion and motivation for patient-centered care ensure the best eye care for your family.
She is a member of the American Optometric Association and Minnesota Optometric Association. She is also an active member of Lions Club International. She was very active in organizing several Lions club eye care outreach programs in difficult to reach low-income areas and helped coordinate vision screenings for those communities in desperate need of eye care in Nigeria.
In her spare time, Dr. Ekemezie enjoys reading, watching movies and spending time with her family.
